Brick Fundraiser

Convocation Plaza, unveiled in August 2018, provides an opportunity for community residents, Southern Door alumni and area businesses to commemorate friends, family or special milestones while reaffirming their passion and commitment to the Southern Door Community Auditorium and Schools. The space serves as a focal point for visitors and can be utilized as an outdoor classroom, gathering spot following performances and auditorium events, and more.

Community residents, past and current staff and students, service clubs and businesses have the exciting opportunity to purchase engraved bricks. Numerous options are available for purchasing bricks and can commemorate a special occasion or individual, a group, club or team…anything!

Convocation Plaza Features
The focal point of the plaza features an original sculpture by renowned Door County artist and Southern Door alumna Robert Soukup that will greet patrons, students and staff upon their entrance to the auditorium. The plaza will also include other amenities as funding permits:

  • a new, more direct entrance into the auditorium lobby
distinct signage to help patrons easily identify the auditorium entrance
  • landscaping and seating (free-standing benches and tiered concrete)
  • site lighting
  • engraved bricks
  • ability to serve as an outdoor gathering or extended classroom space

Choosing Your Brick(s) Options
All bricks are Wisconsin-sourced concrete bricks that feature sandblasted engravings that are then filled with a unique blend of epoxy that preserves the engraving for generations. Concrete bricks hold up well to heavy foot traffic and are perfectly suited for the harsh Wisconsin winters. For the project, Gift Bricks, a company based out of Sturdevant, Wisconsin, is being utilized for their consultation and engraving services.

We’ve included the steps and options that you should consider as you prepare to order your brick(s). Once you’re ready, bricks can be ordered online or by mail/in-person. Payment is required at the time the order is placed, and you will have the ability to proof the engraving prior to the brick(s) being ordered.
